I have only been on with you for a little while and everything seems great so far, except for one thing. Every time I check my mail, after I send it you disconnect me! Why do you do this? Answer

This is yet another clever safeguard from our friends at the Microsoft Corporation. With the increasing threat from new Viruses and the ever growing computer Worms the Microsoft Engineers have integrated a virus "safe guard" into the new Outlook Express version 6.

This safe guard disables any attachment it feels could potentially contain a virus. Although its assumptions are not always correct, it will make quick judgment upon your entire inbox and disable any attachment is sees fit. This feature is not always accurate when determining what may or may not have a virus attached.

I have had several encounters with this setting to where it had disabled attachments that I have had in my inbox and safely opened several times. We at Hypernet ask that if you choose to follow the steps below and disable this function that you install an Anti-Virus program to prevent any infection. Click here to download AVG FREE anti-virus software!

Please make sure that you have an anti-virus program installed and running so that can prevent any threats that may be awaiting.

Now, on to getting access to your attachments. To disable this feature follow the steps below.

1. Open Outlook Express 6 and go to "Tools" at the top menu options.

2. On the "Tools" menu click on "Options".

3. A new window will open. Click on the tab that is labeled "Security".

4. On the "Security" tab you should see a box that has been checked that reads. "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus." Un-Check this box and click "Apply" and then "Ok" at the bottom. Close out Outlook Express and reopen the program.

That should do it! Once again, make sure that you are aware of the consequences that may occur if any attachment does have a virus. Make sure you keep the program running when you disable this function for precautionary reasons.

The web is full of sites to download software, picking one can be a difficult choice. One of the best places to start is www.download.com. There is a multitude of both freeware and shareware here. Simply enter in the search box what type of program you are looking for. Generally, it will give you a choice of both free and shareware. But be forewarned! They are constantly changing the software on this site, as well as many other sites. You may see it today, but it may be gone tomorrow!

There are many good sites on the web that can teach you how to create a website. A good place to start would be www.htmlgoodies.com. They have many tutorials that can walk you through doing various web creation tasks using HTML. However, if you do not have the desire to learn the language, there are many 'shell' programs that you can buy at your local computer store. Many of these will allow you to download the program, choose the layout and colors and simply fill in the blanks. Check with your local retailer for these.

So far as deciding whether you should buy a domain name depends upon many things. Many search engine companies have been quoted as saying that 'if you are serious about placing your business on the web, you will need a domain name'. Why don't you check out our Web FAQ and see if this helps? If you still have questions, please call us at 817-517-6000 and we will answer all your questions based upon your needs.

You would not believe how often this question is asked of us! Thanks for bringing it out in the open.

HyperUSA does not actually disconnect you after sending or receiving mail but we can help you anyway! This is simply a setting in your email program that can be changed easily by you.

If you are using Outlook Express, just open it up and click on the Tools Menu and then select Options. In the new window that pops up click on the Connection tab, and then take the check out of "hang up after sending and receiving." This will correct this issue for you immediately! If you are using some other email program than Outlook, just email technical support at support@hyperusa.com and we will step you through the process for that type email.
